Chun-Mei needed a sound mind like Chu-Mei's (Chu-Mei was like this since memory can remember) in order to leave(a.k.a. abandon ship) these psychopathic Taiwanese ... cut rope, cut (false) anchor and set sail!
It should have evolved like that at some point after exhaustion of all affection for these evil psychopaths ... and yet why didn't it. That's the question, and it's a very good question.
